How Do We Know What The Truth Is?

Hi! I'm Kenny Thomas, the Bible guy. I'm writing this blog because I want to teach the truth about God. The more I learn about religion today the more frustrated I become. Why is it the world expects us to suspend all logic and reason if we choose to believe in God? There are so many false teachers (Acts 13:10) in the so-called "christian world" today. Everyone of them prey on our ignorance of the Holy Bible to trick us into believing some twisted interpretation of God's word.  (Galatians 1:6) Why can't we all read the same Bible and believe the same thing? That is what I want to address in this blog.

It all started with one of Satan's lies. He says "Well, the Bible says one thing to me and another thing to you." ARE YOU SERIOUS!? Common sense tells us that the reason we write things down is so it will say the same thing to everyone who reads it. If I write a note to my son that says "Go to the corner market and buy a 12 pack of Mt. Dew and a loaf of Sarah Lee white bread. There's $20.00 on the counter in the kitchen for the purchase. Bring me the receipt and the change. Don't buy anything else!", then he knows exactly where to go , what to buy, what to buy it with, and what to do afterwards. Right? So if he buys a 6 pack of Mt. Dew and a loaf of pumpernickle, then he should not be surprised when he gets in trouble. Ask any lawyer why contracts are written down. He'll tell you the same thing I am saying. "So it will say the same thing to everyone who reads it."

So why do we have thousands of different interpretations of the Bible being taught in thousands of different denominations of christianity all over the world? The answer is simple. We don't like what the Bible says in one way or another.

There are 2 ways to read the Bible.

1) We can read it with an honest and open heart willing to except it for what it says. (Luke 8:15)
                                                          Or

2) We can decide what we want to believe and then go to the Bible and twist it to support our views.     (Acts 13:10, Galatians 1:6)

Unfortunately most of the world reads the Bible the second way and not the first. For us to accept that the written word of God says something different to everyone who reads it we must suspend all common sense and logic. If we use the brains God gave us, then we know that His word was meant to say the same thing to all of us.

So how do we study the Bible and get the right message. For starters we read the whole Bible and get the big picture overall. If we do so, we will come to understand a few things.Just some of which are:

1) The Old Testament gives us the history of God's relationship with man.

2) That relationship has gone through several changes, all of which were part of God's original plan. (2Timothy 1:9-10)

3) The Old Testament was fulfilled (served its purpose) and was done away with when the New Teastament came into affect at the death of the Son of God on the cross. (2 Corinthians 3:14, Hebrews 10:9-10)

4) The New Testament is the law we live under today.

5) The New Testament is the final step in God's original plan and there are no other doctrines, gospels or truths to be given before the end of the world. (Galatians 1:6-9)

When I talk to people about getting to know God I always tells them to first read the Bible, not books about the Bible. (Romans 10:17, 2Timothy 3:16)
